La Gauloise – Traditional Herbal Liqueurs from France

According to legend, the brand name dates back to the time when France was still known as La Gaule, when the liqueurs were already being produced. The old recipe was lost over time but was fortunately rediscovered in 1783 by Sieur Requier, a liqueur producer, in a grimoire!

Based on the closely guarded recipe featuring angelica, St. John’s wort, saffron, cardamom, genepi, and many other ingredients, La Gauloise liqueurs have since been crafted through a double distillation process over an open fire. Blended with brandy and sugar and aged in oak barrels, the result is highly aromatic liqueurs that are enjoyed both neat and in cocktails.
